tactics

beautiful football. how do you play beautiful football? well you start with the goal keeper. i goalkeeper needs both confidence and players around him to support him.

defence need to be load, communicating to each other and work like clock work. they need to be able to play a cover formation in which doesnt allow teams to break through them. they need not to be committed, they need to allow teams to play, you want the ball back in the first half of your side? let the midfield do that. CB's are meant to be big and strong which means they should never be put in the position of chasing back. full backs have to be fast and agile. this is to cut off supply. this means that team have to go into the middle in which the strong defenders clear it up.

2CDM's always 2. however they need to have 2 different jobs, one needs to be in charge of the main CAM of the other side, shutting off his ability to play, the other sits in and is the wrecking ball of the team, anything in his area he has responsibility to be able to read the game so that if the CAM gets away from his partner then he is able to clear up the mess.

1 CAM, these players need to be a natural cam, not like rooney. they need to have vision and you have to accept the fact that they are not defenders and many of them dont enjoy that aspect of the game. he also needs to be bestfriends with the striker, they need to be able to read each others game and work together

LW, RW, CF. the wingers need to be a goal threat, they need to have composure in front of goal and they need to be fast, not necessarily skillful. skillful players make boring players that expect to much everytime they get the ball, a fast player you know is going to run.

CF. he plays in the middle but behind the wingers, this means that he is also a goal threat but causes great problems to the opposition as they have no idea how to close them down. this means that all 3 can exploit the defence by connecting up with the CAM.

the best football and the most deadly football is fast football. the type were any player can change a match with one pass. but a great team also has control and patience. they need to read the game and be able to play with the ball at feet and be able to spread the ball. liverpool have shown that fast football is both effective and great to watch however they have not got their defence aspects correct. they play the covering line in which i prefer but as you saw against crystal palace there line was to deep and the players were allowed to play within the box. which led to 2 of the goals.

chelsea this season have been boring to watch yet absolutely brilliant. jose was able to cover everything that game against liverpool, he controlled the tempo, the way liverpool played and just didn't allow liverpool through. however that is not the football of a man with dignity. you play that kind of football if you're playing against the best team in the world and you're looking for a draw to win a title. you dont do that to ruin someone elses title credentials. they only way of would have admired jose is by trying to outplay liverpool which they didnt do.

anyway i said all this because i have a dream of becoming a manager. yes i know it probably wont happen but this is just a place in which i can broadcast my ideas in hope that someone of importance in the footballing world sees this. thanks, bryn

another arsenal one.

arsenal are conceding far too many goals to ever consider themselves champions. and if you look at their way of playing and there players they have you can understand why. each week they play 4 CAMs and a winger. which means they have very little defence, chelsea did not outplay arsenal. they just played behind the CAM's and in front of the defence which is a huge open space which was easily exploited. arsenal have one CDM who is flamini who has done well this season but is second to the much more attacking arteta. they need to bring in someone like javi martinez who can play both centre back and CDM. he has a had a brilliant season in germany and is solid. they cant keep having 5 up front leaving 4 at the back because they will be counter attacked which liverpool did and they will concede lots of goals. if i were wenger i would get rid of giroud. he has the same playing style as the CAMs which mean they have very little ability to score lots of goals. they need an opposite. they need to transform walcott into a striker.

walcott is composed in front of goal with great ability to find space and has the pace to get into it. he would offer a complete different to giroud which would make it very hard for teams to get there tactics correct on marking the striker. giroud plays balls behind the defence towards ramsey or ozil who then hopefully score and walcott would be a running at them player. this tactic of running at the defence has worked really well this season for players such as the ox who caused havoc for bayern munich and for ross barkley.

however walcott hasn't really been playing lately due to a sustaining injury so they need to invest in a striker. guess who? MURIEL!!! he is young and is starting to die down at udinese. a fresh start would be the best thing for him.

well sagna has pretty much said he will be going to manchester city so they need to bring in a replacement. they have been looking at the young rb serge aurier. he has plenty of potential and has great ability. he is a great choice. they also should consider danilo who is the young brazilian RB who has a had a great season.

they need to have the ability to defend and score if they are to have a chance of competing next year for the title. and that sounds simple but they arent doing it.

would anyone like me to cover anything other than football? I'm passionate about many sports and like to give my opinion on politics as well so just leave a comment below or email me @ mintus1888@gmail.com

taking rooney?

why are the taking him, and before you start saying he is amazing and the best player we have. he hasn't scored in a world cup. ever. and since we are starting with youth then surely we should take someone young, connor wickham has a had a great surge into form over the past months and seems to be a real threat to goal.

obviously it is to late to take wickham but i dont like rooney, he isn't a CAM however he is a decent CF, however he doesn't fit into the team with sturridge being the striker and him not having the ability to play CAM and the pace to play on the wing. he is behind lambert in my squad selection. but this isnt my squad.

i know most of you disagree with my tactics, my opinions and the way i like football played but i will never give in to hype, mourinho is a crap manager, david moyes needed more time, brendan rogers is good but isnt a major threat yet and the manager of the season has to go to the crystal palace manager, tony pulis, dont get me wrong. i love ian holloway but he isnt a premier league manager. and many players and managers have that problem of shining in the championship and then disappearing in the premiership, remember wilfried zaha? well he was brilliant.

why does this happen though? wilfried zaha is meant to be the next big thing? well for one they are over hyped. he was good and fun to watch but every time he got on the ball you built expectation only to be let down the majority of the time.  but how can young british player flourish? well they have this season with many of them on the plane to brazil. but they're competing against multimillion pound players that are a joy to watch due to the amount of control they have.

have you ever wondered what language the speak in the man city changing room? probably spanish. it just shows the influence of foreign goods. now i have no problem with this. but when they play great football and i dont think man city have this season. they have a strong defender, 3 brilliant midfielders and a great strike force, but that doesn't make for grear football. they aren't a team, they are a £206 million pounds of wages playing in the same kit. david silva is their best player as he connects it all together. yaya toure has been great but they haven't come close to liverpool this season. liverpool are a team that have worked together for a few years with youth coming through. the one point they lack in is their defence but as i said brendan rogers is still mastering the art and for me, they wont win the title for atleast 3 seasons until they're defence is clock work.

leave any comments below on suggestions on what topic i should cover or even how i should improve this.

luke shaw the world cup?

well i have been thinking long and hard, i have watched southampton games over and over and have come to a decision. you only take him if you're playing wing backs with 3 CBs, i have watched him and hes decent tackler and good on the ball but you want someone behind him when he makes these runs. he is a decent player who is very young and that is what england need.

roy hodgson has said that he has known who is england squad is and has known for a while now. well you have to question whether it is his team or the medias team? well it has been for the past few years but hodgson has done something no manager has done before and looked beyond the hyped players and looked at bringing in new talent, because hey at the end of the day, gerrard wont be in the next world cup squad and rooney will be 32. he needs to bring players through and unfortunately a few have become injured. the beauty of player who are unknown is that you cant research them, when andros townsend came on for the first time england were playing some shit football. long ball and hopefully some one gets onto it. he came on and ran at the defence. oxlade chamberlain against bayern munich ran at the defence, ross barkley against man city ran at the defence. they're not players going to be drowned in the big matches because they dont understand the pressure and just want to play their style of football. sturridge has caused all kinds of problems this season and the only player who hasnt is rooney. he has been lazy in that area. he has been great this season dont get me wrong but he hasnt been the goal threat that people know him as and do you want to know why? because he is trying to play the CAM role and well that aint working. he needs to run at the defence because we arent going to win by playing long balls with italy because guess what, they will just play the same game but they have the key to winning big matches, its called a pirlo. the only way we will a match (we wont win the world cup) is by playing counter attacking style

is sterling to young? well yes. but maybe thats what we need. he took manchester city apart and has been a ball of energy through the whole season. he has shown composure, skill and vision and he needs a call up. will he get drowned out by wiltshire who has a had an alright season (though thats unfair to say as he has played well but season has been dominated by injury) because he has the experience to understand the pressure.

now i almost feel im wasting my time with these blogs because i highly doubt roy hodgson goes onto blogger very often. but hey its for my enjoyment and hopefully you enjoy it as well.

please leave a comment on what you would like me to do and how you are finding my pieces, i seem to have a group of german readers so feel free to leave a comment in german, it can only help me get better for my german exam next monday.

the last season of football

This year ends possibly the mark of competition for first place in the premier league. with chelsea and liverpool slipping you have to start asking why whilst manchester city skip to the finish line in a manner in which they can not be knocked for.

liverpool will make improvements and add depth which will increase their ability to fight for the league but as rogers has said, he is working on perfecting his perfect attack. this means they are limited to 2 tactics, the perfect counter/attack and then the barcelona way in which they have shown with their short passing this season which has broken apart defences. they need a team of complete contrast, the ability to work around tactics making yourself completely unpredictable.

chelsea have been worked out by everyone this season. if you're a good team expect to see a minimum of 9 of their player behind the ball when not in possession and be wary of the counterattack. to be fair to mourinho he did not use this tactic against arsenal. now arsenal are predictable, they have 4 CAM and arteta which means that they play a very attacking line which means there is space to exploit behind them as they leave a large space between them and the defence. they attempted the offside trap but then they lost 5-1 to liverpool. as i was saying about chelsea (my ability to wander between subjects is both dazzling and irritating as i have ruined the plot of my next paragraph, ah well ). they play with two tactics and against the teams that are lower down the league they play with arrogance. which is why mourinho has cost chelsea every title. attitude is one of the most important things when the player has got it right. i was watching the man utd game and the reason hull city lost, possibly, is because of the celebration after the goal. he simply wandered back to the centre circle and got ready for the restart. i have no problem with that but however he must show determination and character and the fact that he feels they are still in it. he wandered back to the semi circle at 2-1 down in the 60th minute.

arsenal are actually the  one team i think that can challenge next season for more than just the FA cup. bring a striker in who is small and pacey. this means that he can play striker or if a winger is to become injured then he can move over to the wing. they also need a more stable midfield. the midfield we saw at the start of the season which was brilliant with one of their goals making it on to a pornographic site. this faded with injury and they almost devolved as a team. they need some holding midfield player. i would honestly look into lampard this season and get him on the free on a 1 year contract. he does the job brilliantly and will give it his all as he closes in on retirement.

man city are only going to get better. they're money fuelled and determined. and so far you have to hand it to mancini that he built the basis of an amazing team. so this for me is the end of the battle for first as that will be handed to man city depending on their transfer window. chelsea, liverpool and arsenal will be in the battle for 2nd. we can only hope that man utd improve to regain their status as a high end football team. but tbh, they need to start playing with the positions in which people play in.

thanks, bryn.
